Today i found some interesting facts about watt-hour energy usage of Google Datacenter in Dalles, state of Oregon, USA which is located on the bank of the river Columbia. This is coordinating datacenter and includes 4 big warehouses with thousands of servers inside.
Datacenter gets the energy from the hydroelectric power station based not far from that place on the Columbia river. Capacity of this powere station is really enormous (1,8 GW). It is greater by 50% than some big atomic power stations in the United Kingdom. This datacenter will start working at full power in 2011 and its capacity will be about 103 MW. For comparison: Newcastle city uses 103 MW for all needs.
In the near future Google will buy the old paper-mill in Finland to build one more datacenter.
